How do I maintain my coating?

Proper hand washing is key for getting the most out of your coating. You will be amazed at how easily your coated vehicle cleans up and maintains a "wet look" wash after wash. As the owner of the vehicle it is ultimately your choice on how you maintain the investment made into the protection of your vehicle. But, one should consider even though it is cheap, easy, and convenient, the area's plentiful automatic car washes do more harm than good. The harsh chemicals, dirty spinning brushes slapping your vehicle, missed areas, and inadequate drying can do a number on your vehicle no matter how well your vehicle is protected.

Why should I have The Gloss Boss protect my vehicle?

We have installed ceramic coatings since 2014, longer than any other shop in the area. We focus on the highest quality, most professional install, and not enticing customers with a cheap price that reflects poor quality and cut corners. We don't install coatings in your driveway or another uncontrolled environment. Controlling your environment is key to a consistent, quality end result and easier install. As the saying goes "good work isn't cheap, and cheap work isn't good". We also maintain membership with a professional coating network, and participate in continuing education/training as an ongoing commitment to quality and professionalism.

How long does the ceramic coating last?

While a proper install is important, aftercare and maintenance is most critical when it comes to how long the coating will last. Car owners can typically be placed into three categories when it comes to how well they maintain their vehicle. It’s important to be honest with yourself and know your own car care habits in order to get a reasonable estimate of durability. The only way to remove the coating is through physical abrasion or repetitive extremely low or high pH chemical usage. Even a proper safe hand wash is a form of abrasion, but as the least aggressive form of abrasion it will maintain the coating the best. The coating doesn't just magically stop working after X number of years, but may just simply diminish in performance over the years. It will be worn down faster or slower based on your maintenance habits.

• The first owner is "the enthusiast" who goes to great lengths to keep their vehicle looking pristine. They will invest in either quality DIY car wash chemicals and tools and wash their car every 1-2 weeks by hand, or sign up for a The Gloss Boss membership program. This type of owner will see 100% of the advertised coating longevity.

• Next, would be the "average Joe" owner. A busy individual who has a franchise car wash membership and will have us perform a maintenance detail 2-3 times a year. This type of owner will see 80% of the advertised coating longevity.

• The final type of owner will be someone who is "indifferent" about their vehicle. They will do little to nothing to ever maintain it or keep it clean. Excessive dirt, mineral deposits, and other environmental factors left to dwell on the surface will etch and "eat" away at the coating. This type of owner will see 50% of the advertised coating longevity
